Music Box

MusicBox-smThe Music Box add-on has thus far proven to be a solid install. I’ve been testing it for a few months now on both a windows and Android platform with the latest Jarvis release. The add-on is available via the SuperRepo Repository however, it’s not maintained by them and therefore it’s recommended users install direct from the developer repository (Techdealer: see the guide below). What’s more, this add-on will require users to register a VK account

What I like about it: There is no shortage of music on here. It seems every search I entered returned an avalanche of results. Thinking I might stump the add-on with something a little off the beaten path I tried Miles Davis, Donny Hathaway, Lamb Of God, The Mars Volta, Jeff Buckley, Wilco and every time, more results than I knew what to do with. Granted, some of the files produced less than great audio quality. That aside, users will find literally something for everyone. Users selecting “Recommendations” will find a list of current artists and their latest offerings ranging from Justin Bieber to David Bowie to Tame Impala and pretty much everything in between. Continuing on down the line, users selecting 8Tracks Playlists will discover a veritable buffet of old, new and obscure music ranging from eclectic latin/jazz selections to popular party mixes. Again, this add-on seems to have something for everyone

The down side: As mentioned, the audio quality varies from excellent to unlistenable. That’s ultimately up to you to decide what you will and will not put up with. Further, I found some of the playlists don’t work or cause my system to hang resulting in a playback error message. I’ve only been using this add-on for a week and while annoying, it’s not at a point where I would uninstall the add-on altogether. Perhaps if it persists over time I may feel differently. As it stands today, I’m quite impressed with it and as such, I highly recommend you try it. With that, follow the tutorial below for a quick and simplified guide to installing the Music Box add-on.
