Add A Custom Background in Kodi v17

Adding a custom background in Kodi v17 took me some time to figure out. I’ve only just started playing around with the new player and if I’m able to find a quicker way to achieve this, I will surely update you all. At any rate, here’s how I did it;

Step 1:

From your home screen navigate to the settings icon in the top left corner of your screen and select it.

Step 2:

From the list of menu items, select;

  • Interface settings

Step 3:

From the menu on the left select the following;

  • Skin
  • skin (Estuary)

Step 4:

A sub menu window will open up allowing you to add more skins. On the far right select;

  • Get More…

Step 5:

From here, I chose Aeon Nox 5: Redux because each menu item is completely customizable. This skin should be at the top of your “Get more…” selections

Step 6:

Once this is installed, head back to your home screen (right click mouse for Windows; back button on remote for Android)

Step 7:

From the home screen select;

  • System
  • Skin Settings

Step 9:

Note, your main menu bar selections are on the left. The window on the right will allow you to enable/disable the selection from your menu bar as well as set the item background image

Step 10:

When you select Set Item Background, a window will open. From the list, select;

  • Set single Image Background

From here, you need to select the path for your image.

That’s it. I hope I didn’t loose any of you along the way. As mentioned, I just started messing around with v17. If I can figure out how to change the background image from Estuary, I will repost this tutorial. If you have any questions, message me from my facebook page. All the best!
