The ECHO Repository/3rd party add-on has some very cool features including the ECHO Wizard, a great tool for managing your device maintenance as it pertains to using XBMC/Kodi. Apart from that, users will find three great add-ons within this Repository for watching live television and live sports events. This tutorial will show users how to install the add-ons and how to set up the ECHO Wizard Without further delay, let’s proceed with this tutorial.

Note: If you are unfamiliar with installing a repository/3rd party add-on in the new version of Kodi aka. Krypton v17, please check out my visual install guide Krypdon v.17 HERE

General: Here i left everything to it’s default setting. If you wish to change the location of your Backup Storage location, go ahead. You can also enable TVAddons.ag, Dropbox/strong>, Pastebin and Ubuntu for Linux users.

Maintenance Options: Once again, I left everything to the default setting

Auto Clean Options: Here you can set regular maintenance such as clearing cache, Packages and Thumbnails including selecting the day of the week you wish for this maintenance to execute (keep in mind, your device and Kodi will have to be running for it to take effect).

Once you have completed your set up, select OK to the right of your screen. This will drop you back into the ECHO Wizard where you can proceed to update and modify other settings to help optimize and personalize Kodi

I’m not much for Builds however, if you are so inclined, there are multiple Builds to choose from and experiment with

If users scroll down and select Maintenance Tools once again there are a host of maintenance options here to help optimize your device including auto cleaning and viewing error log files. You can update all your add-ons and run a system wide test that will idenfity broken Repos with the option of deleting any dead repos if necessary.

Under Advanced Settings users can select a device that closely resembles their own to maximize the amount of ram used for caching files while streaming. The more ram you have, the more room you have for cache files which can reduce buffering while streaming. Select as follows;

  • 1GB of RAM or more Devices: If you have a device that is 1GB – 2GB RAM, users would select that option.
  • 0 Cache Option: this option should only be selected if you are running Kodi on a laptop or desktop computer and you have more than 4GB of RAM.
  • 512MB of RAM Devices: this is for older devices which by now if you’re using a device with less than 1GB of RAM to stream content with Kodi and you’re experiencing a lot of buffering despite a fast internet connection, look no further than the issue being with your device.
  • Nvidia Shield: this option is for devices with 3 or more GB of RAM.

If users select Must Have Kodi Programs and Tools, this is more for Windows, Mac and Linux users although there is an ES.File.Explorer.apk for android users. To be honest, I’m not entirely sure what a lot of these programs do or how essential they really are. For example, Blender appears to be a free software package for creating and rendering 3D images. Perhaps handy if you’re a gamer but essential?? adbLink is companion software specifically for Kodi that enables users to manage multiple devices using Kodi from 1 PC. This can enable users to clone set ups from one device to the next, stream movies or television shows via your network to multiple devices in your house. Again, essential?? If you’re unsure, I recommend not selecting any of these options until you understand fully what installing them means.

View Error Log File and Upload Log File can be helpful in identifying any errors you encounter while running Kodi. Users can view errors and attempt to fix them or upload the log file via one of the many Kodi Blogs to help get a fix from one of the community members.

That’s really all I have to offer with respect to the ECHO Repository and ECHO Wizard. I hope this was helpful. All the best!
